Extra Aircraft unveils the updated version of the Extra 300L with various light weight features, the Extra 300LP, during EAA Airventure Oshkosh. The Extra 300LP represents an update to the most successful production aerobatic monoplane that general aviation has seen, the Extra 300L. Various components in the aircraft have been upgraded to be manufactured in carbon fiber for reduced weight, additional rigidity, and resilience. In parallel, Extra Aircraft has included a variety of additional options to the instrument panel for pilots to provide enhanced situational awareness and longer distance capabilities.

In parallel, the Extra 300SHP (SN1035) is released and the first one is purchased by Mike Goulian. The Extra 300SHP features a new horizontal tail, larger rudder, and a smaller canopy.
